Instruction
Instruction is key to teaching any comprehension strategy and it is important that teachers are informed on the best teaching practices for each strategy. It is also important to make sure students are learning comprehension strategies on the correct reading level. There are three different levels of reading, which are frustration, instructional, and independent. If an assigned reading is frustrating for the student, there will be very little motivation and engagement to read. An instructional level of reading is a good level for teaching students and an independent level is when students can read with comprehension without assistance (Moore, D., Moore, S., Cunningham, P., & Cunningham, J., 2011).
